The University of Phoenix is facing a class action lawsuit that will shut the college down for good by court order! Unlike the systems of most other nations, education in the United States is very decentralized, and the federal government and Department of Education are not heavily involved in determining curricula or educational standards (with the recent exceptions of the No Youngster Left Behind Act and the Prevalent Core State Standards Initiative ). This has been left to state and regional school districts.
